In the village is a fine 13th century church and is mentioned in the Domesday Book. The church dates from 1200. The remains of the Augustinian Convent of the Precious Blood are on the road to nearby Dorney.
BURNHAM BEECHES
There are more than 70 acres of heaths and woodlands, these are mostly pollarded beeches, and some are very old.
The land was bought by the Corporation of the City of London for the use of the public ‘forever’-in 1880. A wide variety of plant and animal life can be seen along the many paths and roads that penetrate the woodlands. |
