This is a very pretty village lying 3 miles east of Amersham,just off the A413. The village green is surrounded by ancient cottages. There is a fine norman church with interesting monuments.
July 1665 John Milton and his wife rented this Cottage, found by his Quaker friend Thomas Elwood he called this Cottage a " pretty box ". John Milton completed Paradise lost here and commenced writing Paradise Regained
The cottage now contains a museum, open from March to October , Tuesday to Sunday
